The forward had long been rumoured to be unsettled at Chloorkop following his fall in the pecking order behind Peter Shalulile. It also did not improve his chances when Sundowns signed Abubeker Nasir and Marcello Allende.

Following his move, Erasmus has taken to social media to send his goodbyes to club, coaches and supporters.

"To the Masandawana [supporters], the chairman and the Motsepe family, thank you for the great two years I spent at an amazing football club," Erasmus wrote.

"The family is what makes this club, humility respect and humbleness. To the coaches, thank you for having worked with you. To my teammates, I’m going to miss you. I wish u all the best for the rest of the season."

This will be Erasmus’s second stint with the Buccaneers after spending two seasons a Mayfair from 2013 to 2016.

The striker will remember those season fondly having made 80 appearances for Pirates, scoring 21 goals and recording 14 assists – his best return at any club in his professional career.

Erasmus leaves the Brazilians after two seasons, having scored 10 goals in his 43 appearances.
