Mamelodi Sundowns' Bongani Zungu provides update on return to fitness

Mamelodi Sundowns Bongani Zungu has revealed that while the team is officially off duty, he has continue training in a bid to fast-track his fitness progress.

After making it clear that he would not renewing his stay with French out FC Amiens SC in May, Zungu eventually completed a sensational return to Mamelodi Sundowns in August.

However, having gone months without playing competitive football, the midfielder was understandably out of shape. The Brazilians have gradually to tried to bring him back to full strength and 'Ben10' has revealed that he's also been putting in the extra effort.

"When I signed to Sundowns it happened quickly and physically I wasn't ready yet," admitted Zungu.

"I've been working very hard on my fitness. They've been helping me a lot at Sundowns. I feel very happy, I don't feel pressure."

"I'm nearly there. I've been training. the team is off and I've been training with the trainers there at Chloorkop and I'm nearly there. It's going to be an exciting second-welcoming for me, personally

The 30-year-old has made just five appearances for Sundowns and has not started a single competitive match. However, he insist he has not put under pressure by the club.

"I don't feel pressure and I've not been pressured by the club so yes, I'm nearly there."

Zungu still faces stiff competition  for s stating place in the middle of the park at Sundowns. Andile Jali, Haashim Domingo, Siphelele Mkhulile as well as new signings Teboho Mokoena and Sipho Mbule are just some of the options the Brazilians boast.

Sundowns will return to DStv Premiership action on 31 December with a crunching home encounter against Orlando Pirates.
