More departures expected at Mamelodi Sundowns as transfer deadline nears

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has hinted at more possible departures from the Chloorkop side before next week's transfer deadline.

Defending  DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns recently completed the signing of Cape Town City star Terrence Mashego.

The high rated left-back and Bafana Bafana international becomes Sundowns’ seventh signing in this window and now a fourth left back in  the senior team.

The move has raised suggestions that some players could be on their way out of the club. A sentiment also hinted at by co-head coach Rulani Mokwena at the club’s media day on Thursday.

"We try to recruit the best players," he said.

"Then of course, at this moment in time, the biggest thing for us now is that when we bring in [players] also, we have to let go [of other players].

"Because you can’t have your cake and eat it. I’m not sure if that’s applicable here."

"But yes, you can’t have too many [players]. That’s the honest truth."

Sundowns have already parted ways with Sibusiso Vilakazi, George Maluleka and Pavol Safranko. Fresh reports have linked left-back Lyle Lakay with a move across town to SuperSport United while striker Kermit Erasmus has also been linked with a move away from Chloorkop.

Additionally, the Brazilians are also still in a race against time register Moroccan defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil with the transfer window expected to slam shut next Thursday.
