Mamelodi Sundowns' new signing Terrence Mashego has revealed his delight at completing a "dream" move back to his boyhood club after making his debut for the Brazilians.

Sundowns have earned themselves a reputation of shrewdness in the transfer market, with the recent swift acquisition of Bafana Bafana international Terrence Mashego being the latest example.

Mashego was introduced as a late substitute for Sifiso Ngobeni during Sundowns' hard-fought 1-0 victory over AmaZulu on Sunday.

The win sees the defending champions extend their lead at the top of the DStv Premiership standings to five points ahead of second-placed Orlando Pirates.

"It’s a special feeling, I don’t want to lie," Mashego said post-match.

"I believe it's every child's dream to represent his mother [hometown] team. I just want to win trophies – that's what coach Rulani told me, that 'here at Sundowns, we're just winning trophies.'"

Reflecting on his first outing for the Brazilians, Mashego said he was ready to play when called upon.

"As a player, you need to be at it all times," Mashego added.

"When they told me I’m in the squad, I was prepared and when the coach called me, I was prepared to deliver."

Following Mashego's arrival, Sundowns have confirmed that several player's are set to depart the club with an inflated squad that now boasts four first-team left-backs.

Lyle Lakay alongside Kermit Erasmus are being earmarked as the most likely casualties with a loan return to Cape Town City being mooted.
