Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Neo Maema says he’s relishing the upcoming clash against Kaizer Chiefs as the sides prepare to lock horns for the second this season.

Sundowns and Amakhosi are putting in the final preparations for a titanic DStv Premiership clash on Sunday at the FNB Stadium.

The two teams met earlier this season, where Sundowns walked away as overwhelming winners with a 4-0 thrashing of Amakhosi.

"Every game is a cup game for us because we’re the defending champions, so now have to show it and we can’t wait for the game on the weekend," Maema said.

Amakhosi go into the fixture on the back of two consecutive defeats after falling to Sekhukhune United and AmaZulu. In the opposite corner Sundowns got their eleventh successive win after recording a 1-0 victory over Supersport United on Monday night, thanks to a Maema goal.

"Everyone wants to win the derby," the midfielder said, reflecting on the game.

"They closed the spaces we tried to create from the middle of the park from the get-go. In the second half, we just tweaked a few things and we managed to actually get them.

"The goal helped us so we can them become more desperate and we can be more patient with the ball and get those passes in between them.

"We played them first over the weekend in a cup game and the same week we played in the league it wasn’t easy for us but we’re professionals, and for us, it was more about them not beating us for the second time so this one means meant a lot to us."
