Maritzburg United coach Eric Tinkler expects ugly football at Highlands Park

Tinkler is happy with the mood in the camp after a hard-fought win over Bloemfontein Celtic last Friday.

Speaking ahead of their trip to Tembisa this weekend, Tinkler believes his players understand what needs to be done in their game against Highlands Park, who are fighting for the top eight.

"The mood is obviously very good, which is what we need at this stage but at the same time the players know the importance of us going to Highlands to get the three points," he said.

On their approach to the match, the coach knows the threats in Owen Da Gama's side and says for them it won't be about playing beautiful football, as long as they get maximum points.

"I think this is probably going to be our toughest game just because of the brand of football they play, it's very aggressive. Lots aerial challenges and a lot of importance on winning the second ball. This is not a match where we can look to play some pretty football, we are going to have to play ugly," Tinkler explained.

Tinkler said they just need to be motivated and be ready to deliver on the day, and also revealed that only one player is not available for the encounter.

"Preparation is going good. It's just about keeping the boys motivated and up for the game with the right mindset, and only Keagan Buchanan is not available for selection," he concluded.
