Speaking to the media on Tuesday ahead of the game at Harry Gwala Stadium, Tinkler made it clear that they need points more than Celtic, especially as they are coming from a long break after a loss to Mamelodi Sundowns.
"We need those three points more than them, we have to put pressure on teams around us and to do so we can't afford slip-ups," Tinkler admitted.
"The players are ready to fight, they know what to do for us to survive. Against Celtic we need to expose their weakness. When I look at the football we play, I feel like we deserve more than what we've got since I've arrived."
The Team of Choice will be facing a side that has been pushing through the pain of their management challenges and are also coming from a loss to Golden Arrows in the Nedbank Cup.
The former Cape Town City coach knows it won't be an easy game but insists maximum points are needed.
"It won't be easy for us but we are desperate for those points, we need to fight till the end," he added.
Maritzburg are four points behind everybody else at the bottom of the Absa Premiership table.
