Maritzburg United owner Farook Kadodia has confirmed Fadlu Davids as a leading candidate to make a sensational return to the club as head coach.

Davids is confirmed to have been considered by the club's hierarchy on a three-man shortlist to replace former coach John Maduka.

Former Orlando Pirates tactician Josef Zinnbauer has also been linked to the position since departing Lokomotiv Moscow.

Davids worked alongside the German for a brief stint in Russia before departing the Russian Premier League.

"Yes, Fadlu Davids is among the coaches who have been shortlisted," Kadodia reveals to KickOff.

Davids is being earmarked as the leading contender for the vacant post and appears set to make a return to The Team of Choice where he enjoyed previous spells as head coach and a former player.
