Former Stellenbosch defender Rafiq De Goede has joined relegation-threatened Maritzburg United.

The Team of Choice have bolstered their defence with the arrival of the 29-year-old, who left Stellies last month.

De Geode made 10 appearances for Steve Barker's charges this season and is now looking to help steer Maritzburg away from the drop zone.

"Maritzburg United Football Club is delighted to announce the new addition of Rafiq De Goede. The former @StellenboschFC skipper’s athleticism makes him a quick and physical Centre Back," the club tweeted.

De Goede becomes the Team of Choice's second signing in the January transfer window following the arrival of former Orlando Pirates full-back Wayde Jooste.
