Mashego, who had previously been linked with a move to Mamelodi Sundowns, is currently on trial with Matsatsantsa.
"He only arrived last week, we are still assessing him," says United coach Cavin Johnson.
"We will make decision next week."
The 22-year-old, an ex-youth international, spent the past season at National First Division outfit FC Cape Town.
