Monaco striker Falcao suffers fresh injury blow

Monaco won the tie 4-3 over two legs, with Falcao slotting a penalty and providing an assist before being taken off with the injury.

The Colombian looks set to miss the team's next clash against Villareal in which a group stage berth in the Champions League is at stake. The first leg is scheduled to be played in Spain on 17 August, with the return in France six days later.

Falcao, who flopped for both Manchester United and Chelsea, scoring just five goals in 41 appearances in England, appeared to be returning to something resembling his best form before injury struck.

The 30-year-old was prolific earlier in his career for the likes of River Plate, Porto, Atletico Madrid and Monaco. However, a serious knee injury with Monaco in 2013/14 derailed his progress.
