Chippa United CEO Morgan Mammila has announced his immediate departure from the club.
Mammila has on Tuesday morning taken to his social media platform to confirm that he has quit the Chilli Boys just hours before they are set to face Mamelodi Sundowns.
Resignation— Morgan (@MorganMammila) April 23, 2019
I have resigned as CEO of Chippa United FC with immediate effect. I will like to thank Mr Mpemgesi , Management, Technical Team, players and the loving supporters for the opportunity and support they gave to me . All the best to the team. @robertmarawa @LimSportsZone
Chippa are currently in Tshwane, where they are readying to face the reigning Absa Premiership champions at the Loftus Versveld Stadium this afternoon (15h00).
However, the club have since undergone a major change in that they no longer have an active Chief Executive Officer, with Mammila vacating the position days after their Nedbank Cup semi-final defeat to Kaizer Chiefs.
The former Baroka CEO joined Chippa at the start of January, hoping to bring a new dawn to the Port Elizabeth-based club following the departure of Peter Koutroulis.
Reasons for his departure have yet to be determined, with several attempts to reach Mammila proving futile as his cellphone went unanswered following his tweet.
It is thought that Mammila and coach Clinton Larsen had not been seeing eye-to-eye over certain decisions regarding the direction of the club.
