Ertugral explained that despite his half-time talk, his side failed to respond to his warnings and "gifted" Downs all three goals in the second half.

“It’s an unfortunate situation to lose having lead the match," Ertugral told teh club's website.

"We spoke at half-time about what we needed to do, and I was very clear that we need to be careful on certain things – one of them being the shoulder runs, and immediately we conceded a penalty.

"The second goal was a gift, a complete gift. The third goal came from a corner, we had prepared for it, we knew where the ball was going to be played but I think it was another gift."

Though they managed only one goal, the Turkish-born tactician felt it is their defensive display that needs most of the attention in the coming weeks.

“First half I think we played positively… I believe we could have scored a second but we were unfortunate," he added.

"In the end I think it’s our defensive line that we need to work on.”

This was Bucs' second high-profile friendly defeat, after their 2-0 loss to arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs in the CBL Cup a week ago.

Ertugral's next assignment will come against Platinum Stars in the Maize Cup, which will be played at the Moruleng Stadium this coming Saturday.
