The former Mpumalanga Black Aces coach put the Bucs through their paces in their first session back from the break, and felt he was well-received by his new squad on his first official practice in charge.

“The meeting went well,” he told his club’s official website after training. “I also think my message was well received. Obviously, there will be more of these sessions so that we can get everyone on the same page. The sooner we can do that the better.”

The experienced Turk once again re-iterated how honoured he was to be handed the reins at Mayfair, and insist he has what it takes to steer the Bucs ship to success.

“Let me just say that it is an honour and a privilege to be in the driving seat of a team of this magnitude,” he said.

“This is one of the top clubs in Africa for a number of reasons including the clubs extensive fan base, their history with this being the Club’s 80th anniversary and the fact that they are the only club to have lifted the CAF Champions League trophy in the Southern African region.

“Secondly I am also aware of the duties placed on my shoulders. I have coached in three continents, from the Turkish sides like Trabzonspor and Sivasspor, to the Austrian side SV Mattersburg and including the likes of Club Africain (Tunisia), Ismaily (Egyptian) as well as the National Team of Zaire in Africa.

“I believe I have acquired the necessary knowledge to handle the task of managing a team of this calibre.

“I know and understand the responsibility I have to carry as the head coach of this team. I find that exciting, because I know the steps that I have to take to make my stay a successful one, obviously it won’t be easy but I am comfortable enough to know what to expect.”
