Nikola Kavazovic preparing Free State Stars for relegation playoffs

Free State Stars coach Nikola Kavazovic has lost hope in his side and is already preparing for the relegation playoffs.

Looking at their final two fixtures, which are against Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, the coach revealed the club has already made plans to face National First Division sides in the near future.

"We are in a very tough situation, I'm very honest, that's why we already sent our scouts to watch NFD sides who might be our opponents in the playoffs," he said.

"We are not strong enough mentally, I don't think we can compete with Chiefs and Sundowns at this stage. Everything is possible but I'm a realistic man. At this stage we don't have a chance. We can use these matches to prepare for the playoffs."

Kavazovic also said it would wrong for them to blame their mental challenge on the passing of Sinethemba Jantjie, who died in a vehicle accident recently. He feels the issue is deeper than that and once again brought up former coach Luc Eymael.

"It would be unfair to use that tragedy as an excuse for our poor state of mind and performances. As I said before, the mess was created by the former coach, he left a huge mess."
