Orlando Pirates head coach José Riveiro has admitted that his squad's recent results have left him baffled.
The Buccaneers started their 22/23 DStv Premiership season on the right foot with a slender 1-0 win against Swallows.
Even on the day though, Pirates' failure to kill off matches was evident. Next was an away trip to Stellenbosch that ended in a frustrating 1-1 draw for both sides.
Pirates' luck ran out in their third outing against Chippa United. Relentless attacks and 16 shots taken at the opposition's goal yielded no results for the Buccaneers. Instead, it was Chippa United who scrapped a goal late in the second half and held on until the final whistle to steal a precious three points.
Reflecting on the recent run of underwhelming results, Bucs coach Riveiro said the team’s form is 'difficult to explain'.
"Well, it’s difficult to explain that we’ve scored only one goal in these two games at home," he says.
"Not against Stellenbosch, we didn’t create many chances in the Stellenbosch game but in these two games at home, to finish 180 minutes with one goal is hard to accept," Riveiro says.

Orlando Pirates will have another chance to get their season under control on Wednesday evening against Royal AM at the Moses Mabhida Stadium and Riveiro is confident that the Buccaneers will soon find their scoring boots.
"The stats are showing that we are doing everything we can to generate chances and it’s just a question of time," the Spaniard adds.
"We need to finish with a bit more confidence. One day it will change, I’m not only talking about our number nines, we are generating these [scoring] situations for everyone."
