Details of the player's arrest are still sketchy but it is understood he was arrested at the Midrand Police Station this morning.

The 27-year-old is due to appear in court today on charges related to domestic violence.

Gauteng police spokesperson Kay Makhubela has confirmed the arrest of a PSL player but could not provide his name until he appears in court.

"Yes, it's true. A 27-year-old man alleged to be a soccer player was arrested in the early hours of this morning on charges related to domestic violence," Makhubela tells KickOff.com.

Efforts to get hold of Pirates administrative official Floyd Mbele proved futile after he failed to pick up our calls having initially responded via text message.
