Orlando Pirates' new signing Collins Makgaka compared to Cesc Fabregas

Former Baroka FC coach Milton Dlamini is backing new midfielder Collins Makgaka to shine at Orlando Pirates.

Pirates unveiled Makgaka together with Zimbabwean striker Terrence Dzvukamanja on Wednesday as two more new signings ahead of the 2020/21 season.

The 24-year-old only managed 13 appearances for the Limpopo side this past season, mostly from the bench having only tasted 488 minutes of action with one goal and one assist.

But Dlamini, who worked with Makgaka during his stint with Baroka FC, has assured Buccaneers fans that they will enjoy watching him play if he gets a chance this coming season.

"He is naturally gifted player, an attacking midfielder, a typical South African number 10 player," Dlamini tells

"At Baroka they used to call him Fabri [after the Spanish football star Cesc Fabregas]. He is a good signing for Pirates.

"The only challenge is the number of good players that he is going to compete with at Pirates. Remember, sometimes it's about the coaches. If they believe in him and he gets the opportunity, I believe he can prove his worth."

Former Bakgaga defender Lawrence Ntswane has also thrown his weight behind Makgaka's move to Pirates. "He is a top player. Pirates have signed a very good player," he adds.

Makgaga and Dzvukamanja's arrivals complement the signings of Thulani Hlatshwayo and Deon Hotto, who were also confirmed as Sea Robbers players on Monday.
