Orlando Pirates new signing Deon Hotto's German background to help with coach Josef Zinnbauer

Orlando Pirates new signing Deon Hotto's arrival at the club may be of great added value to coach Josef Zinnbauer's efforts to communicate effectively with the team.

Hotto recently completed his move to Pirates following the sale of Bidvest Wits as he looks to make his mark at one of the PSL's giants in the 2020/21 season.

The Namibian star is one of three former Wits stars to arrive at the club, alongside defender Thulani Hlatshwayo and striker Terrence Dvukamanja, and is expected to bring some quality down the left flank.

His services will not only be useful to The Buccaneers' attack but will also come in handy for Zinnbauer behind the scenes, perhaps in training as well as during matches, given his linguistic talents.

"Ich spreche Deutsch, ja [laughs]. Growing up in Swakopmund as a player, I played for a club called Swakopmund Football Club which was owned by a gentleman from Germany," revealed Hotto on the club's website.

"This is where I learned German. The club is actually known as SFC and is supported by clubs from Germany. When I was playing for the under-17s, I was fortunate enough to go showcase my talents in Germany.

"I can speak the language. Me and the coach [Zinnbauer] will certainly communicate in German from time and again. Who knows, maybe there will be times where the coach wants me to pass on a particular message to a teammate."
