Orlando Pirates now believe in Absa Premiership title chances, says Milutin Sredojevic

Pirates are sitting pretty with a three-point lead over the chasing pack on the current log standings, with excitement beginning to build for the season’s climax.

The Buccaneer, however, have played two games more than second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns and therefore cannot get carried away just yet, though Sredojevic has now conceded that the belief within the team and amongst the supporters is rife.

“Once we are sitting where we are sitting, it is our duty and responsibility in each and every competition to target the highest possible level – in this case to win the league,” said Micho.

“But having in mind that our opponents are having matches in hand, we cannot say that we have gained any advantage – we have no right to speak about that.

“We shall see what the final bill is but, to tell you openly, following all of us as a sportsman, human being, Pirates people, coach and supporters, all of us look towards that direction.

“And we shall chafe our skin and give everything, and see what football shall give us back, but I can assure you from each individual in the dressing room, we all believe.”

Pirates could go a further six points clear should they beat Free State Stars at Orlando Stadium on Saturday night (20h15).
