Following last season's disappointment on the domestic front, Ertugral’s appointment has coincided with a spate of changes in the playing personnel at the club.
Ertugral has already made it known that he wants to work with a relatively small squad this season and snl24.com/kickoff has made note of a squad of 30 players that he appears likely to work with in his first season in charge at the club.
Besides the four players at the Olympics Games the rest of the players that will be in his squad are already training under the Turkey born tactician.
In the list this website has compiled, 13 of these players are either new or are returning from loan spells elsewhere having never played for Pirates before.
“We want to leave one foreign space open which is important and there is the AFCON coming so we never know but in the end I think pretty much the squad is good," said Ertugral.
"The material is there with excellent players and we now just need to find a way of how we can make the team function which is the most important thing."
“I am only strict on certain elements, I love players who have a certain way of skill because today it is not about passing only. Today where is the famous Dutch football of always passing, you need to eliminate and you need players to open the lines a little bit more.
"I am strict when it comes to defensive organisation pattern because in the end you cannot have eleven players sitting on the ball and expressing themselves. The game is under two seconds today, receiving and passing is now a half touch.
"If the game is two seconds and everyone was standing on the ball would you want to write about it?"
