Orlando Pirates have provided an injury update ahead of their clash against Cape Town City, with a goalkeeper having been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Pirates are set to be minus one of their first team goalkeepers in their remaining two Absa Premiership fixtures as they gun for their first championship in seven years.

News coming out of The Buccaneers camp is that Jackson Mabokgwane suffered a finger injury and had to go under the knife earlier this week.

The 31-year-old, who managed just 12 appearances across all competitions this season, has subsequently been ruled out of their final two fixtures of the campaign against The Citizens this Saturday and Polokwane City next weekend.

"According to the Bucs' medical team, the 31 year old will undergo reassessment on the 6 May 2019 for removal of stitches and then will commence physiotherapy and occupational therapy," read a statement on the club's website.

Meanwhile, some positive news on the injury front is that defender Diamond Thopola as well as midfielders, Linda Mntambo, Kudakwashe Mahachi and Xola Mlambo are all back in contention after being sidelined through an assortment of injuries.

Bucs visit the Athlone Stadium on Saturday afternoon (15h00) as they look to once again restore their three-point lead at the top of the log standings, before defending champions and second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns look to keep up the pace against Golden Arrows next Tuesday.
