Mkhize signed for Pirates at the beginning of last month straight after the expiry of his contract at Maritzburg United, but his deal with The Bucs was suddenly scrapped after indications that coach Muhsin Ertugral was not keen on him.

snl24.com/kickoff can now confirm that Mkhize has received his termination papers.

The 27-year-old is currently training alone in Pietermaritzburg as he plots his next move.

“Pirates have agreed to give him a letter stating that he can join any team of his choice following the cancellation of the contract that he had signed with them,” says a source.

“What happened at Pirates doesn’t really sit well with Mkhize but he has accepted that he has to move on with his career. Pirates changed their minds on him before he even trained with them as during all the time that he was at the hotel that the club had booked him into he only trained in the gym and not with the rest of the squad and also did a medical.”

Mkhize has also played for Golden Arrows.
