Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has shed some light on the elements that have helped produce some explosive recent performances by The Buccaneers.
Pirates collected their second consecutive DStv Premiership victory when they thrashed Stellenbosch 4-1 at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Saturday, and a seventh win for the season.
Goals from Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo, Thabang Monare, Kermit Erasmus and captain Innocent Maela completed what Riveiro believes is a culmination of some behind-the-scenes efforts within the Bucs camp.
"We are so happy with the collective performance. I’m every happy with week we performed. It was a long week with five training sessions before the game. Every session was better than the previous one and the consequence was a full performance where we were very concentrated," Riveiro told journalists post-match.
"[Pirates] players are surrounded by good people. We’re trying to help them as much as possible, from the subjective perspective and professionally, to help them, before, during and after the games. That’s what makes us a very good team."
Two of the four goals from the Buccaneers came in the second-half of the game - only the second time this season the Buccaneers have scored in the second half, with the first time being the previous week's clash against Golden Arrows.
"We’re so happy to finally break that wall [of struggling to score] in the second half. It gives us confidence. Second game now, totally different scenarios and different approaches from the opponents," added Riveiro.
With the win, The Sea Robbers move up to fourth on the DStv Premiership table and will get chance to go up to third when they take on take on Marumo Gallants on Saturday.
