Former Orlando Pirates striker Andries 'Local Is Lekker" Sebola insists now is the time where his former club should challenge for the title.

The Sea Robbers are in second position, five points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns with a game in hand.

"Though they are on and off Pirates, it's better to be in the mix so early in the season," Sebola tells KickOff.

"They mustn't allow Sundowns to open a gap if they want to challenge for the league title.

"Yes, it's going to be difficult for Sundowns because they will be playing in Africa, and Pirates must capitalise on that.

"Because to be honest it's now or never for Pirates, they need to capitalise on Sundowns' congested schedule.

"I hope they beat Sundowns in the MTN8 because losing to Sundowns in the semi-final will demoralise them.

"They are beginning to understand the new coach's philosophy, so I'm happy with the commitment of the Pirates players.

"It's too early to talk about the league for now, I just want them to be among the top teams.

"Being on top is more pressure than being second or third. So, they are well positioned now.

"If they can lift the MTN8, then that will turn their season around."
