Mamelodi Sundowns legend Eric Ramasike has urged caution in showering premature praise on breakout Orlando Pirates star Monnapule Saleng.
Ramasike says helping the Buccaneers to win the MTN8 Cup does not make the former Free State Stars man a star.
"Players like Saleng they are still young, all they need is motivation and advise, they need to be told scoring two goals against Sundowns doesn't mean you have arrived," Ramasike tells KickOff.
"Stay grounded you have not arrived, yet this is only the beginning.
"All this hype they are putting him under pressure my brother.
"Let me tell you something, if he can take all this hype to his head, I'm telling you he is going to go down quickly.
"The very same people who are making all this noise about him are the very same ones who will be calling him useless soon.
"This whole hype about Saleng pains me because...I admit he did well in only about two, or three games, so let's give him enough time so that we can see if he is a seasonal player like Peter Shalulile and Themba Zwane.
"Let's give him a chance he is still young let's not kill him.
"For now, he has just given us a taste that he's got talent, let's give him time.
"He has not played even half a season at Pirates for us to conclude that he has arrived.
"He might still get injured and once you get injured it might happen that your form drops.
"He is not a star yet, those who believe he is being exaggerated are taking things too far now.
"Okay, if Saleng is a star then Themba Zwane is what?
"[Laughs] If Saleng is a star then Peter Shalulile is what?
"People must stop joking, the boy only shined against Sundowns and also in the MTN8 Cup final against AmaZulu FC. Does that make you a star? Come on."
