Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic has refused to accept credit for his Absa Premiership Coach of the Month accolade for April.
Micho snapped up the gong after guiding Pirates to four wins from five matches last month, collecting 13 points of a possible 15, as he outshone his counterparts.
However, the ‘Wolf of Serbia’ downplayed his own achievement as he revealed a touching message shared with his players prior to attending the awards ceremony on Thursday.
“When you’re looking at me, you need to look through me and see an extremely hard-working team that I represent with Coach Rhulani [Mokwena], Coach Fadlu [Davids] and the rest of the members of the technical team,” said Micho.
“To the players, prior to coming here [to receive the award], I just told them, ‘I am the ambassador of your work.’”
Sredojevic further reflected on the season this far, having earlier also bagged the award for January/December, and likens the campaign to a “Hollywood film.”
“Looking at our season, I could say it has been extremely competitive when you have a situation in which, with a few matches to go, many teams are fighting for the trophy and many are fighting relegation,” he added.
“It is an extremely competitive league that will go down to the last minute of the last game [of the season].
“It has been a roller-coaster and a Hollywood film look-a-like, which is something everyone has seen but an invisible part that us technical people and players are going through behind the scenes – playing matches with sleepless night and hardworking days.
“At the end of it all, football is an extremely profitable game. You invest and you get back, and sometimes it lets you down because logic does not exist and one plus one is sometimes not two in football.
