Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro praised the collective effort after bagging a third straight DStv Premiership victory.

Pirates won their third consecutive game after beating Marumo Gallants 2-0 courtesy of goals in either half by Monnapule Saleng and Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo.

"Tough game, we knew we really have to be tough as well, play with the determination in the duels, in the aerial balls," Riveiro told SuperSport TV.

"The way we managed to control their forwards was excellent today, all credit to our guys at the back they did a fantastic job, one more time everyone in general was contributing to the very important points we collected here."

Riveiro went on to commend all the departments after he was told the midfield was solid.

"The team looks very solid, the midfield cannot be solid without the help of the back-four, they cannot be solid if the forwards are not coming and helping, so this is a collective sport," he said.

"We have in this moment many players in a very good form, in a very good moment, which is very good for the team, the competition during the week is tough and if you want to be on the field you really have to deserve it."

Pirates lost back-to-back matches from the long FIFA World Cup break but have bounced back with nine points and nine goals scored in that run and the Spanish mentor carried on to say that he never doubted his methods.

"I was not lying, I was not worried. I was upset, disappointed sometimes. We tried to make sure during the week that we help the players to arrive in the game in a better position where they can fight for the victory," he added..

"We do it every week, we try to make sure we create more chances than the opponent, it's not always possible but that's the idea.

"Then our capacity to execute in the last third which is the most difficult thing in this sport, was not the best ones sometimes but we didn't stop, we start again.

"We continue trusting and now we're collecting more goals and obviously more points as well."
