An Orlando Pirates legend has heaped praise on the impact of Bucs midfielder Miguel Timm after a solid output in the first half of the DStv Premiership season.

Timm was signed by the Buccaneers at the start of the season from Marumo Gallants. The move was met with some scrutiny considering the player in question was on the wrong side of 30.

However, the tough-tackling midfielder has proved his doubters wrong and has received praise from one of the club’s most respected former midfielders.

"He’s been one of the most important players in the team," said Shakes Gwabeni.

"I think he’s a played nearly every game and you can see how strong the defence is and you can see that he’s missed when he’s not there."

"He’s a quality player and we have to give credit to the team management for getting him in the window."

Timm has appeared 10 times for Pirates this season, missing just two games. He capped off his contribution to the side with a Man of the Match award-winning performance in the final of the MTN8 as Pirates defeated AmaZulu to clinch the coveted trophy.

His performances earned him his call call-up to the Bafana national team where he’s also received praise from head coach Hugo Broos.

"You need players who can give the same performance for their clubs and also on this [international] level. Today, I saw players who can do that," the Belgian coach said after the game against Mozambique.

"I saw new players and if I can mention one, it is Timm."

"You saw what he did at Pirates and he also did the same thing here. That means that he can play on this level."

Timm will return to competitive action for Pirates when the Buccaneers travel to Pretoria to take on DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
