Orlando Pirates are believed to have finally concluded the signing of veteran midfielder Ndumiso Mabena on a short-term deal.

The former Bloemfontein Celtic captain had been training with the Buccaneers for the last two months with a view to sealing a permanent signing.

After impressing the Pirates technical staff at training, the club have now made a final decision to acquiring Mabena's services for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.

"It was not solely down to his talent and performances in training, but his attitude," said a Pirates official.

"The technical team and players are raving about him at training, and now it's time for him to show the fans what he is capable of doing on the pitch.

"It was a very difficult decision to sign a player at his age, but I believe he will prove his worth to Pirates this season."

Mabena is confirmed to have already finalised the logistics to making the switch from KwaZulu-Natal with Royal AM to settling into his new surroundings in Johannesburg.
