Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has opened up on the pressures at the helm of the Buccaneers as the side recently ended a run of three consecutive losses.
The Buccaneers secured a late 3-1 over Golden Arrows at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Saturday. The win brought some weight off the shoulders of Riveiro, who had lost his three Premiership matches prior.
The Spaniard has shed some light on the pressure he, his technical team and the players face amid a poor run of form and praised the spirit of competition within the camp.
"The players know where they are. they know here they are playing and performing," Riveiro said.
"We all know that we need to do our best because there are are a lot of eyes following us, monitoring us. We’re in a team where cannot have a break, with regards to performance."
"They [players] are good competitors and one of the things we do during the week. Almost in every exercise or scenario that we propose is compete and they like to win during the week."
"In general Everyone behind me [technical staff], they all very competitive and like to win, these are people that, if we don’t win they don’t sleep. If I don’t win I don’t have dinner, I don’t have sleep. I don’t have breakfast, I don’t have nothing you know? It’s too much sometimes, I have to say."
"It’s the same for the players, even though you might think that they don’t care, it's not true. They suffer and they know what these three points [against Arrows] means."
Pirates will be looking to make collect their second win of the year when they face Stellenbosch on Sunday at the Orlando Stadium.
