Peter Shalulile makes startling revelations at Mamelodi Sundowns

Shalulile is the 2021/22 KICK OFF Footballer of the Season winning 45.26 % of the votes and retaining the award he also won in the previous season.

The Namibian gunslinger hammered 29 goals in all competitions pushing his scoring tally in Brazilians colours to 51 in 83 appearances – the best return ever by any player in their first two years at the club.

Inclusive of his last season at Highlands Park, the 29-year-old has scored 70 goals in the last three seasons and through that time has played 122 games missing only 10 games at club level.

He has played another 16 games for the Namibia national team over the last three years.

"I believe that it is easy to make your way up but to stay up there is what then becomes the harder challenge because some tend to get into a space of being comfortable," he says in the latest edition of KICK OFF Magazine.

"However, for me, I always prefer to do things that make me uncomfortable. I know everyone can work hard but then the question is can you work hard every day by waking up at 04h00 to go and work as I do. It is not easy, but it can be done because in Europe they are doing it.

"When it comes to eating, I always make sure I eat healthy even though I know how hard it is since it is expensive.

"But then in my case, it is my body and I need to take care of it. I wake up at 04h00 every morning and that is when you will see me in the gym doing spinning after that I go straight to work to train with my teammates.

"After that, I go home to relax and after that, I do finish with my trainer somewhere else after which I knock off around 18h00. Football is a job to us, and I treat it as such by working from 04h00 in the morning until 18h00.

"For some of us, this is the only thing that we know how to do so we need to invest in football and give it our all. If you invest in football, you will reap the rewards at the end of the day so for me that is how I will keep doing it," he says in parts of the informative interview in edition 543 (July 2022).
