Pitso Mosimane and Benni McCarthy are among those who applauded Gavin Hunt's reappointment as SuperSport United's new head coach.

Hunt, who won three Premiership titles with Matsatsantsa between 2007 and 2013, returned to the club on Thursday after he was unveiled as their new head coach on a two-year-deal.

The 47-year-old returns to Pretoria following the club's decision to part ways with predecessor Kaitano Tembo late last season and his reappointment has been celebrated by some of the biggest names in the industry.

Among them is South Africa's all-time record goalscorer Benni McCarthy, who took to social media on Thursday to congratulate Hunt on his return to SuperSport United.

"It’s right about time. Finally a sensible club going for one of Mzansi’s finest Coaches. Well done Gavin Hunt, all the best My Coachy," McCarthy tweeted in responses to the news.

He then added in a tweet to Hunt, "All the very best ok, you don’t really need it but it’s just appropriate to give it nevertheless. I know you gonna be amazing."

Ex-Matsatsantsa boss Pitso Mosimane, who was Hunt's predecessor during his first spell at the club, shared similar sentiments and backed the veteran coach to bounce back after difficult spells with Kaizer Chiefs and Chippa United.

"Out of four PSL titles you won, three were achieved at SuperSport United. Top Coaches will always rebound in a strong way. Don’t be shy to dust off that old book that won those trophies. Enjoy yourself," he shared.
