Pitso Mosimane not giving up on league title

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane is not really giving up on the league title race despite his recent comments.

'Jingles' suggested the league is not a priority anymore in the heat of dropping three valuable points against SuperSport United on Wednesday night, when they were beaten 2-0 at Loftus Stadium.

The loss against Matsatsantsa has put a major dent in their title aspirations as they now trail log leaders Orlando Pirates by six points, albeit with two games in hand, while there is also the threat of a points deduction coming from the PSL.

But Mosimane remains positive that his side can still bring back the league trophy to Chloorkop this season.

"I want to talk on behalf of Sundowns. It's not over because it's still possible," said Mosimane.

"If anybody believes that we can win the league, why can't we believe that we can win the league? It's possible, anything is possible."

Sundowns travelled to Polokwane today to prepare for the league game against Baroka FC on Saturday and after a heavy load with domestic and CAF Champions League fixtures, Mosimane wants his charges to forget about football matters until tomorrow.

"We have to travel to Polokwane today. We can't travel on Good Friday, you know what's happening on the N1 on Good Friday. We don't want to spent seven hours [on the road]. We thought we would travel on Friday but there are no flights," he explained.

"We have to travel today and forget about football a little bit. We will talk about it on Friday."

After this weekend's fixture against Baroka, Sundowns host Free State Stars in Pretoria next Tuesday.
