Prior to the start of their 2016/17 Absa Premiership campaign Dikwena will warm up against the likes of Orlando Pirates, Bidvest Wits, Maritzburg United and Golden Arrows.

First on the agenda is a tournament this coming Sunday at Markspark in Johannesburg that features Wits, Maritzburg and Arrows.

The following weekend the Phokeng-based outfit take on the Buccaneers in the second edition of the Bokone Bophirima Maize Cup at Moruleng Stadium on Saturday.

Those who turn out to watch Stars in the Maize Cup can expect Johnson to field his strongest side in order to ascertain how well pre-season preparations have gone so far.

“We are going to take the best team to the tournaments but we will see what happens. Everything is going well and we have prepared well," he told the club's official website.

"We won it last year. We are going to go out to do our best. It’s a barometer to see how far we are before the start of the season. To play those teams now is good for the players to see how far they are.

"At this time of the preseason we would like to play in these tournaments so that we can be in tune with the PSL.”
