Speculation has been rife that Benni McCarthy could be interested in the Kaizer Chiefs job, and one of the club's strike legends thinks it's a great idea.
The former Cape Town City coach shared a message on social media recently sympathising with Chiefs after they lost the Absa Premiership title on the final day to Mamelodi Sundowns.
This sparked a frenzy of speculation suggesting the Bafana Bafana legend may be angling for Ernst Middendorp's job.
Should Chiefs management decide to part ways with the coach after the German's failure to land silverware, Pollen Ndlanya backs McCarthy's credentials for the top job.
"Benni McCarthy to Chiefs, why not? With support he can succeed," Ndlanya tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"I'm always happy to see local coaches shine. Look at coach Pitso [Mosimane], he has been doing it for years beating European coaches.
"Let's support another son of the soil. Benni has proven to be winner at Cape Town City, winning a trophy and beating big teams. He is passionate and knows football. Give him a job."
Ndlanya also feels Amakhosi would be well served by Gavin Hunt or Manqoba Mngqithi.
"They can also give Gavin Hunt a chance," he adds. "There are local coaches who are proven winners, their records are there for everyone to see.
"Even Manqoba Mngqithi can't be assistant coach forever, Chiefs can even go to him. He is qualified to lead the team. It's all about getting enough support."
