Promotion/relegation play-off match repot

Thivhavhudzi Ndou and Donald Makgetlwa were the only players that kept their places from last Friday’s win over Ajax Cape Town, as Tshakhuma welcomed back goalkeeper Simon Mamudzidi.

Tshakhuma launched the first threat after Molibedi Mokoena broke free on the far side minutes in to have a crack from close-range, but Leopards goalkeeper Jonas Mendes stretched to parry.

Leopards dusted off the nervousness on 18 minutes and broke the deadlock when Themba Ndlovu twisted in-field from the right before slicing into the far corner.

A spell of pressure from Leopards nearly resulted in a second in a matter of minutes as dilly-dallying on the ball by Mamudzidi led in Tebogo Modiba, who cracked the post following a low shot.

It was all Leopards following the closing quarter, as Thabiso Mokoena drew a low save from Mamudzidi off a snap attempt before Makgetlwa shaved the far post after unleashing from range.

A goalkeeping change on the side of Lidoda Duvha at halftime had Rotshidzwa Muleka entering between the sticks ahead of Mendes.

Tshakhuma looked to open up their counterparts on 55 minutes as Mokoena threatened from close-range before Muleka raced off his goal-line to deny Thembisani Nevhulamba from point-blank range.

Tshakhuma’s afternoon was thrown into disarray on 60 minutes after Mamudzidi was stretchered off following an injury and saw Nhlanhla Ntwa enter.

Following an earlier miss, Ndlovu finally capped a fine afternoon’s work in the last ten minutes when he opened space on the left to drill into the bottom corner to complete his brace.

Tshakhuma were handed a consolation three minutes in stoppage time after Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo slammed in from the penalty spot following a foul in the area, but Leopards were able to hold on for the win.
