PSL against political ambush marketing at Absa Premiership games

A banner belonging to one of the local political parties was seen displayed amongst the crowd during the Absa Premiership match between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns at Orlando Stadium on Monday.

South Africa is set to go for its sixth general elections since the end of apartheid in 1994 next month, May 8.

September has since sent a friendly warning to political parties to resist using PSL matches to promote and campaign for the upcoming elections.

"We don't promote any demonstration or activities by either religious or political parties in the stadium during our games," said September.

"We are just appealing to all the political parties, resist from using the PSL to promote and campaign for the upcoming elections. We only encourage fans to come to the stadiums to enjoy the game and no other political activities."
