Free State Stars announced last week that the consortium’s bid had failed, and this has now been acknowledged by the League.
“We had a meeting today to discuss the Free State Stars issue with MEC Lesufi,” said Khoza from the PSL’s headquarters in Parktown.
“We can confirm that both parties [Free State Stars and Mr Lesufi] have written to us to confirm that the deal is off.
“As the League, we are disappointed with how the whole transaction was handled. It has caused a lot of damage to the fans and the players.
“We wanted to know who the people in the consortium were but obviously that information is irrelevant now because they have withdrawn.”
