PSL prosecutor Nande Becker looking into possible Mamelodi Sundowns charges for yellow card misconduct

Mamelodi Sundowns players could be charged with misconduct for picking up four deliberate yellow cards as PSL prosecutor Nande Becker investigates the incident.

Sundowns have come under fire after four players were alleged to have deliberately picked up yellow cards during the league match against Bloemfontein Celtic to allow them to miss the Nedbank Cup match against VUT.

Hlompho Kekana, Gaston Sirino, Sibusiso Vilakazi and Mosa Lebusa were all sitting on three yellow cards before the league match against Siwelele and then missed the win over VUT through suspension.

According to FIFA rules, picking up a yellow card in order to be suspended for an upcoming match constitutes an offence and a player found guilty could be charged with one extra game's suspension.

Becker has not ruled out the possibility of hauling The Brazilians before the Disciplinary Committee to answer charges of misconduct related to the yellow cards incident.

"I am waiting for it. I will look at it before deciding the next step."
