Masandawana defended their Absa Premiership title on the last day of the season to overtake Kaizer Chiefs, who were on top of the log for every round except the first and the last.
Pitso Mosimane's thus successfully closed a gap that at one stage stood at 13 points, partly due to The Brazilians' continental commitments last year.
Reacting to the historic victory, Feutmba says his former team didn't play well this season but benefited from their continental experience and strong attitude.
"It was very difficult for every team in this bio-bubble, it was all about courage and mental strength," Feutmba tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"Sundowns didn't play well but because they have players who are very strong mentally, they came out on top. They showed character, which was lacking at Chiefs.
"Winning the league is not about having stars but it's about the mentality of the team. Chiefs in the bio-bubble didn't perform well, their attitude was not up to standard."
The Cameroonian legend feels Chiefs supporters have a right to be angry about the way they lost the title.
"I don't wish to be Chiefs supporters right now, I feel for them and understand their pain, especially after dominating for 29 games and to lose it like that," he adds.
"It's so special and exciting for Sundowns. As someone who is associated with Sundowns, I'm so happy for the team. They really put up a good fight and it was a very tight race."
The Brazilians have a chance to cap off the longest season in PSL history with a treble as they contest they Nedbank Cup final against Bloemfontein Celtic on Saturday (20h00).
