Despite guiding Gallants to the Nedbank Cup finals previously, Malesela was shown the door in favour of French tactician Romain Folz.
According to increasing reports, the Royal AM hierarchy in an attempt to retain his services is willing to promote Malesela to outright head coach.
With current co-coaches Khabo Zondo and Abram serving as assistant coaches.
"I can't comment on speculation, owner Shaun Mkhize tells KickOff.
"I can only comment on things that are real. So, the story of Malesela's resignation is not real."
Malesela similarly also played down any links with a return to Gallants.
"Nothing has happened," Malesela added.
"We haven't talked with regards to resigning, it's just discussions I am having with the president, I haven't done anything.
"It's an internal matter that we have to discuss. It's not meant for anybody's ears.
"Discussions with Gallants has not happened at all.
"No one has spoken to me, it's just things I am hearing on social media."
