Whilst there seems to have been constant speculation around the former Bafana Bafana striker’s future at the club since he joined the team at the start of last season, Makhoba was quick to allay fans' fears.
Makhoba is determined to keep the former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns forward, who scored nine times in 17 appearances last term, in the team
"Mphela as we speak is in the camp. When we played Pirates (a friendly match) Mphela was there," Makhoba tells Kickoff.com.
"As I speak to you Mphela was supposed to be here and he’s training this afternoon and he is in the camp."
When pressed about whether the player has signed a contract with the club, Makhoba replied: "Unfortunately I cannot speak about the contract of players but Mphela will be playing for the club next season and wearing jersey number nine for Royal Eagles."
Meanwhile, Makhoba has confirmed that the club has signed Mbombela United 'keeper Thuto Qaba and says rumours that they are tracking Pirates’ goalkeeper Felipe Ovono are baseless.
"Ovono, we haven’t spoken to anyone and I think it was just a wishful signing for Royal Eagles," he said.
"I have got four goalkeepers in that position and I’m home and dry in that department. I have got a Cameroon (goalkeeper) there, I have (Philani) Zikalala, I have Mandla Tsengwa. I have just signed a first choice from last season from Mbombela United - keeper Thuto Qaba, and that department it’s okay."
