Seema: What a season!

Bloemfontein Celtic coach Lehlohonolo Seema was full of praise for his side after move up to eighth spot on the Absa Premiership table.

Celtic kept their top-eight aspirations alive with a 1-0 victory over Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday evening.

Seema credited his players for their mental toughness on the pitch while the club have had a number of off-field issues.

“We knew what was coming, immediately after we saw the line-up we thought, okay we can fancy our chances here because they are a team that was looking for an early goal and at a later stage put on the guys they can lock with,” Seema told SuperSport TV.

“But we said, “Guys, when we have the ball let us play because they would want to press but we’re a team that can keep possession. Let’s keep possession and our chances will come.”

“So [Ndumiso] Mabena’s experience there upfront you may think we were going to be short but the quickness of [Menzi] Masuku, [Kabelo] Dlamini and [Neo] Maema joining we knew that we were going to get them. Credit must go to the players, they worked hard for this win,” he continued.

“The mental strength that we have is unbelievable, the things that we went through; a roller-coaster. We thought this is one wave we have to hold tight and make sure we come out of it. It’s been a long time since this team beat Kaizer Chiefs. What a season under the circumstances we’ve been under, so God is great. We thank God the Almighty for the things that are happening at the club at the moment,” he said.
