The midfielder's car collided with a truck in the Free State this morning. The player together with four other occupants died at the scene.

Free State Stars confirmed Jantjie's death in a statement released to the media and will release details of his memorial and funeral after consulting the family.

"I'm very sad about it, when they called me ten minutes before you sent me the message," Jantjie's former coach Luc Eymael tells KickOff.com.

"It's like I received a big knock you know, I was so sad, so surprised. He had just signed a pre-contract with Bidvest Wits, he could have had a lot of money to assure his family and everything, so it's very sad. I also think that his girlfriend was pregnant but I'm not sure about it. When I left his girlfriend was pregnant.

"So very sad for everybody, he was a nice guy, harded work at training. Was an open guy... I'm very sad about it and I want to also again wish sincere condolences to his family. I hope the boys at Stars are not too much affected, that they will push to the maximum to avoid relegation in memory of Sinethemba Jantjie."

KICK OFF sends heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Sinethemba Jantjie.
