Siphelele Magubane sympathises with Wiseman Meyiwa after tragic car accident

On the 18th of April 2018, Golden Arrows midfielder Magubane was involved in a horrific car accident yet survived with no injuries.

Now the tragic news of Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Meyiwa having to retire as a paraplegic at the age of 19 due to injuries sustained in a car crash in November last year has shocked the country.

Magubane tells that the heartbreaking news about Meyiwa left him with so many questions after he experienced his own close call.

"Straight after reading about the news, I asked God so many questions. If he could let me survive a similar accident [unharmed], why not him? Why Meyiwa, at this age?" Magubane rues.

"My car was beyond repair but still I came out alive with no injuries. It is sad and confusing."

He then sent a warm, heartfelt message to Meyiwa and his family.

"I send love and comfort, I'm really sorry for what happened to him, no one deserves this painful experience."

The Arrows player also said his colleagues are with Meyiwa on his new journey and will always love him.

"As players we would like to tell Wiseman that we love and support him, it was an honour to play against him in the league and we are so grateful for everything he has done in his career."

From his own experience, Magubane pleaded with players and the community at large to be safe on the roads.

"We need to be safe," he adds. "I might have been lucky to be alive and healthy, but now we just lost a young talent due to a road accident. Let's all be safe."
