Stellenbosch FC on Thursday officially confirmed the departure of club captain Rafiq De Goede after accepting a transfer fee for the 29-year-old defender's services.

The centre-back has been a stalwart in head coach Steve Barker's side so far this season, making 10 appearances across all competitions before the World Cup break.

"The club can confirm that after consultation with Rafiq De Goede and his representatives we have accepted a transfer offer from a PSL club," the club said in a statement.

"Rafiq was one of the longest serving players at the club and has always been exemplary on and off of the field. We sincerely thank Rafiq."

The move comes just two days after the club confirmed the departure of striker Judas Moseamedi.

After finishing fourth last season, Stellenbosch will be disappointed with finding themselves in bottom half of the log table with just one win from their last five outings.

The Western Cape-based side will return to DStv Premiership action with a home clash against Chippa United.
