Stellenbosch head coach Steve Barker has confirmed that his side is in the final stages of wrapping up several signings in a bid to avoid the relegation battle.
Stellies were demoted to position 15 on the DStv Premiership log table courtesy of a 4-1 thrashing from Orlando Pirates on Sunday.
The loss was Stellies’ ninth straight game without a win and a second consecutive loss for the Western Cape-based outfit.
Barker's side has endured an underwhelming run this season that’s produced just three wins from 18 league matches.
With 12 games to go, the 55-year-old coach has insisted that his side is not panicking but confirmed that reinforcements were on the way to help avoid the relegation battle.
"Yes [we are looking to make signings], once the window comes and goes you can’t do anything. We have nine or so days left. We have brought in Andre De Jong who is a very good footballer," Barker said.
"There are one or two other signings that I’m hopping we can get over the line this week."
SuperSport duo Thamsanqa Gabuza and Iqraam Rayners have so far been tipped to be potential signings tasked with rescuing Stellies.
Barker will be hoping to have at least one of them available when Stellies takes on Cape Town City on Friday.
