Steve Komphela analysing Golden Arrows squad depth during international break

accreditation

After their 1-0 win over Baroka FC last week, Komphela was asked whether starting Maximillian Mbaeva and Sibusiso Sibeko ahead of Nkosingiphile Gumede and Lerato Lamola was part of his plans to save some of his players ahead of the Nedbank Cup quarter-final against Bloemfontein Celtic.

"Partly you are right, but Mbaeva is capable of playing any game. Surely Gumede was proud to see him keeping the clean sheet in the game. Same goes to Sibeko, the other guys would be proud of him too the way he played," Komphela said.

"We can partly say we were saving them but we could use the compliment that those who played well and performed well. That can only mean one thing, a good headache on what you do next."

Arrows have faced challenges with injuries this season with players like Sandile Duke, Siphesihle Magubane, Velemseni Ndwandwe and Mbaeva not seeing a lot of game-time in the first half of the season. Some are still trying to make their way back into the team.

Komphela said the team will be ready for the Nedbank Cup clash and hinted they may use the international break to look at other players who haven't played much this season.

"We will be ready for Bloemfontein Celtic, we will use this period to look at other players and see how we can move forward," he added.
