Stuart Baxter welcomes Kaizer Chiefs selection headache

Kaizer Chiefs emerged victorious from their Soweto derby clash against Swallows after recording an impressive 3-1 win at the Dobsonville Stadium, courtesy of Keagan Dolly's and a brace from Khama Billiat.

The victory was all the more impressive for Baxter's side after the club was forced to make six changes ahead of the match due to a combination of suspension and Covid-19-related withdrawals.

"With these three games that we have had in a very short time, the load on the players is enormous so we had to [make changes] really," Baxter said after the match, welcoming a fresh selection conundrum.

"We were conscious of the fact, that's why we had a lot of changes to start with and then we tried to ease the load at the finish by putting some of the other lads on.

"I thought Kearyn was excellent in his role, [Siphosakhe] Ntiya-Ntiya came on and had a very good little cameo, so it was good."

Baxter also revealed that he was pleased by the performances of his so-called second-stringers who he has backed to challenge the regular starts for a spot in the club's run-on XI in future.

"It's one of those where the lads you think are the starters have got to make sure that they're up for it now, because the other lads are breathing down their necks, which gives me a good problem," he concluded.
